i think i need a mac

Those of you that have had to put up with my ranting about my color issues I really am sorry but it is driving me up the wall. I think ive got my desktop lcd calibrated and I realise how far off I am. I recently picked up a netbook (lenovo s10) for travel and this is what kicked it all off, I realised my colors were a touch off. I calibrated the s10 and theyre really nice on color. It has a led backlight and out of the factory it is a bit cold but once calibrated its a great little machine. When I looked at raw and edited files on my desktop the colors were way off compared to the netbook.

When me and mim were in japan I used the netbook to backup my photos and even do some editing. It chugs along and is not fast but enough to get by. I think I have decided to get a mac or a new monitor. The mac option is looking good more and more I try to fix this lcd.

Anyways I am sure your not here to hear me whinge so I will leave you with a few shots I took before I went on our holiday. I got the opportunity to photograph Nicole, I used some natural light and softbox setup. Hope you enjoy it.

Saturday Morning, Whoa Early Start

A few friends got together and decided to go for a landscape shoot at turimetta beach. It was my first time there so we had a little trouble finding Ian and Dan but we eventually found his stagea. I think the second time i called him to find out where they were I didnt realise but we were actually parked in front of his car.
Theres is a pretty steep set of steps that lead along to the beach but it was pretty well lit from the moon. I think it might have been a little trickier if there was no moon to light our path. Once we got down to the beach we saw Ian flashing his strobe lights so it was pretty easy to find them. I think the lack of sleep and coffee made it a little tough but once the sun came up I was all too happy to start shooting. It really was a nice relaxing way of starting the morning. The only thing i can think of that would make it even better is to have a nice breakfast on the beach after the shoot (and not maccas, ahem... Ian).

I am definetly keen to do some more landscape stuff. It has been a while since I have been shooting landscapes/ seascapes. I guess one of the reasons for shooting people more is because I get feedback from my photographs, landscapes don't speak back and say "hey thats a great shot".

Been a while

I have been so slack with posting up something new, there has been so been so many things happening lately some good and some bad. So this blog is going to be relatively long but I will stick in lots of photos for those who prefer not to read.

I got the opportunity to shoot Chris, a friend of mine. It was portfolio work which also meant that i could catch up with him. I heard about an old tram warehouse and we got the following shots from there. It was an epic task getting into the place not to mention the pouring rain we had to deal with when we had to lug the gear in. We didnt stay too long because we saw someone peering in and we werent sure if it was really a great idea sticking around past dark. There is quite a bit of area there so I will definetly shooting there again.

Busy Busy Busy

Seems to be the story of my life right now, but you know what I am actually really loving it. Normally the lack of sleep would make grumpy and edgy but instead I am really happy. I have been making full use of the 5d and although its very tiring to go out and shoot on your weekends it is very rewarding.

I had the chance to shoot with Don and the strobist bunch, this weekend. The only downside to the weekend is now I want to spend some more money on a set of pocket wizards. A friend of mine has mentioned that Pocket Wizards have a new trigger coming out and is already out in the states. I got to use the plus versions over the weekend and they dont miss a beat, no 1 misfire at all it just flipping works. If Pocket Wizard want to send me over a pair to test out by all means i would not say no :) Here's a couple from Saturday.
